Brothers Quay

Brothers Quay is a short film that was purposly made for entertainment for the audience, there was quite alot of these films made as they were quite popular at the time and was successful. These films were made by two brothers named Stephan and Timothy Quay so they used this by creating the name Brothers Quay. They have made a contribution to animation and came up with the idea to create short films in stop motion animation. The purpose of Brothers Quay is to entertain the audience and use stop motion animation in a different way, by using dolls and toys. By this being another way of using stop motion animation it is bringing the audience in to entertain and excite them to see a different animation film. The short films are aimed at anybody, and particually people who like to see stop motion animation used in a different way as there are a lot of way that can be created using this technique. It is also aimed at people to like to watch thriller films as they have a slight theme or being creepy and unusual. The resourses that are needed to create these short films are the camera and setting which is made everytime the shoot a short film, the set is handmade and the props that are used as well are made to suit the set and the theme. Also the puppets and toys are used with see threw string so its impossible to see when the puppets are being moved, also in the toys there is metal in them so it makes it easy for them to move and walk.

The strengths of The Quay Brothers are the stop motion animation quality is good and the way its been put together is good the sequence is fluent and you cant tell that the puppets are used by string. Its also a good short story as it is entertaining to the audience. Also how the brothers have made this short film successful. I personally dont think that there are any weaknesses for these short films as they have a good story and are presented well.
